Established in 1999, Cellar Door is more than just a salon; it's a place where beauty and history converge. The story of Cellar Door begins over a century ago when the beautiful brick building that now houses the salon was first constructed. This building has witnessed generations of change and evolution, serving multiple purposes throughout its storied existence.
Built over a hundred years ago, the building's timeless charm is evident in its enduring brick façade and classic architecture. Many of our current guests fondly reminisce about the building's original layouts, recalling the days when the bedroom drawers doubled as cribs for their babies. It's a testament to the enduring quality of the structure and the building's integral role in the community's history.
In its previous life, our building was a haven for a talented seamstress, whose nimble fingers crafted intricate garments and breathed life into fabrics. The echoes of her creative spirit still linger within these walls, inspiring the artistry and attention to detail that Cellar Door is known for today.
In 2011, Cellar Door's story took a significant turn when Chelsea, our current owner, took the reins. Chelsea's journey with the salon began at a remarkably young age when she started as a shampoo girl while still in grade eight. Her dedication, passion, and love for the salon grew over the years, culminating in her decision to purchase both the building and the business in 2011. Chelsea's vision and commitment have since transformed Cellar Door into the thriving establishment it is today.
And of course, our building holds its own unique charm, even rumored to be a home for a friendly ghost named George, who adds to the building's character. George's presence is a cherished part of Cellar Door's lore, and his benevolent spirit continues to watch over the salon, its guests, and its dedicated team.
As Cellar Door continues to evolve and thrive, we carry with us the rich history and stories that have unfolded within these walls. We are proud to be a part of our community's past, present, and future, and we look forward to adding more chapters to the enduring story of Cellar Door. Thank you for being a part of our journey.
